: Strategy, Innovation and Design…Oh my!

Congratulations! You’ve just been chosen to manage of one of your company’s key strategic initiatives for the upcoming year… the development of a new widget to replace your outdated thing-a-ma-bobber. Your tremendous success managing last year’s facility expansion project (on-time and pennies under budget!) has convinced the leadership team that you’re the right person for the job.

To the outside observer, you appear confident and Zen-like … but just below the surface you’re wondering, “How should I approach this project? The traditional waterfall approach I took on that expansion project won’t work on a new development project…will it? Would an agile approach fit better with a strategic project like this? That would probably allow us to manage the unexpected a little better, but what about widget selection? How will we know we’re delivering what our internal and external customers need? I wonder if there’s a methodology that combines the benefits of agile with the ability to design a solution that meets the needs of our customers. It’s a good thing I’m going to the PMI Mega Event in April where I can attend that strategy and design thinking workshop and get the answers to my questions!”

During this 3-hour co-facilitated workshop, strategy and innovation experts Brad Brezinski and Dr. Tom Merrill will explore the unique relationship between strategic project management and design thinking methodology and offer practical tools for navigating innovation and design projects.

Bradley Brezinski founded S2A to offer a solution to companies looking to simplify their approach to strategy. In such a company, strategy thrives, perishes, or muddles along in the hands of a resource-constrained management team. “We understand that bringing in a multi-billion dollar consulting firm isn’t a viable option for everyone,” said Brad, “and their one size fits all, big business approach to strategy is often ill-suited.”

Brad’s Inside-Out methodology starts with uniting your company around action-based values and provides a repeatable framework to help you uncover meaningful opportunities and threats to your organization.

Prior to founding S2A, Brad served as the director of project management, chief financial officer, and vice president of corporate strategy for General Tool Company, a defense and aerospace contract manufacturing firm, serving the largest defense prime contractors. There he managed the firm’s $100M+ project portfolio and successfully turned around the company’s performance on complex Department of Defense projects.

Brad is a graduate of the US Navy’s Nuclear Power Program, and holds a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering technology. Over the course of his highly decorated military career, he served as executive officer, department head, program manager for nuclear electrical systems, and technical advisor for carrier electrical power systems.

Brad holds certifications in strategy and innovation from Case Western Reserve University. He is also certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a member and frequent speaker for the Tristate Project Management Executive Forum.
