    TITLE
    : Leading Change with Emotional Intelligence

    Leading in a world of constant change requires emotional intelligence. Leaders must be able to first manage themselves through a changing landscape before they can effectively lead others.

    Emotionally intelligent leaders are those that are aware of and can manage their own emotions and that are aware of the emotions of others so that they can develop effective relationships.

    Ideally we would be able to carefully plan and implement changes in our organizations. In these situations, leaders have time to develop a strategy for leading their units to a successful change. What happens in times of unplanned change? People look to the leader even when he or she does not have time to prepare a response. What will your employees see when they look to you for guidance during the next unexpected change? Will you be ready to lead?

    This session will help you learn how to assess and develop your own emotional intelligence so you are ready to lead. How do you respond to change? What conditions would make a change more or less acceptable for you? What do you know about your employees that would allow you to help them through the next change? How can you be a more effective change leader?

    BIO
    Dr. Tracey Sigler has a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She developed and teaches in the M.S. in Executive Leadership and Organizational Change program at NKU and has helped over 175 leaders in the program develop their leadership competencies. Her research examines the ways we can develop effective leaders in the classroom and across our region.
