TITLE: There is Nothing New With the SAFe Model

In SAFe 4.0 Value Streams were added to the model. Value Stream mapping and analysis is part of all standard Lean implementations. Lean is the foundation for Agile. Value Streams identify how you deliver customer value through process steps, because unless you are delivering customers value that they recognize, see value in, are willing to pay for, and that transforms some inputs into output services and products, all the effort and utilized resources are wasted. This presentation and ensuing discussion, will explore what this is and how to leverage it to make all SAFe and Lean IT journeys more successful.

SAFe has combined the known practices of:

    • Scrums and Sprints

    • Program Management

    • Portfolio Management

    • Release Management

    • and Value Streams

into a model for Enterprise Agile deployment. All of this existed prior to SAFe, SAFE just put it all into a unified framework.

All the underpinnings of SAFe and in fact Agile comes from Lean. We will explore how you can leverage Lean in IT to get products and services designed and deployed easier, faster, cheaper, and better. It does not matter what we call it - it is only important that we all focus on the Customer and deliver more value, better value, faster value, while delivering it at the lowest possible cost. Customers must get this value at a price they are willing to pay, and in a way that is easy to obtain. Our value proposition needs to differentiate our services and products from all others so we can create loyalty between our organizations and our customers.

Come join this discussion! We welcome your point of view.
