About Us

The PMI Southwest Ohio Chapter has served its members and the Project Management profession for over 20 Years.

The idea to form a chapter in the Southwest Ohio area began at the 1988 San Francisco PMI Congress meeting by Les Prudhomme, Kent Crawford, Kurt Keidel. They formed a potential chapter with 26 members (10 were officers) with Les as the “short straw” President.

The objective was to provide a forum for PM professional development and networking and to develop leaders for both the Chapter and PMI.

In the beginning, the group held informal monthly meetings featuring area speakers, eventually becoming more formalized and drawing bigger names on a variety of topics. SWOC members represented primarily the Defense, Construction, Engineering, and Information Systems industries.

In 1998, SWOC split to form the Dayton/Miami Valley Chapter but regained the 250+ members within two years. Currently, our chapter membership ranks 36th of the 134 PMI chapters in the US and 56th among the 257 PMI chapters worldwide. We now have over 1,000 chapter members with 71% PMP certified.
