DevSecOps is a portmanteau of development, security, and operations. In the past, security was often isolated to the final stage of development or worse, retrofitted in at some later point. That was less of an issue when development cycles lasted months or even years, but those days are long gone. As our physical and virtual worlds continue to merge and we increasingly rely on software in our personal and professional lives, the reliability and security of that software is increasingly critical.

DevSecOps automates the integration of security at every phase of the software development lifecycle, from initial design through integration, testing, deployment, and software delivery. It means thinking about application and infrastructure security from the beginning and ensuring that security is built-in, not bolted- on. DevSecOps requires new tools and techniques, but it also requires a cultural change. Security teams must be seen as partners, not impediments, and must be tightly integrated with the development and operations teams. About the Facilitator
“Doomsday” Dave Hatter is a technology leader with nearly 30 years of software development, cybersecurity and project management experience. He has earned numerous industry certifications including Security+, Network+, Associate of the ISC2 (CISSP and CSSLP), PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, PSM 1, PSD 1, and ITIL Foundation V3 and holds a BS in Information Systems from NKU.
