Webinar: Agile Étude - XP Reimagined by Turning it up to "12"

As Extreme Programming reaches its 25th birthday, it is time to look forward the the next 25. XP is a collection of software development practices that had already been in use across a wide variety of contexts. These practices addressed specific problems, but as we were to discover, they had a much wider range of applicability.

In the intervening years, software development practice has continued to evolve, creating better solutions to existing problems and addressing problems that did not previously exist.

Ron Jeffries and Chet Hendrickson, two of the earliest proponents of Extreme Programming, have been looking at the current state of play in software development and have collected a set of practices that they believe advance XP to the next level. Since XP was described as turning the dials up to 11, this new set of ideas proposes to go to the next level, 12.

About the Facilitator

Chet HendricksonChet Hendrickson has been involved with Agile Software Development since 1996, when as a member of Chrysler’s C3 project he helped develop Extreme Programming. In 2000, Ron Jeffries, Ann Anderson, and Chet wrote Extreme Programming Installed. It detailed XP’s core practices, how to do them, and how they work together to help teams be successful.

Chet is the first signatory to the Agile Manifesto.

Since 2002, Chet has been an independent consultant, coach, and trainer. In 2009, he was asked by the Scrum Alliance to help develop the Certified Scrum Developer program. Chet and Ron Jeffries taught the first CSD course and continue to offer them in the United States and Europe. He has been a Certified Scrum Trainer since 2009. Chet and Ron Jeffries often work together and are popular conference speakers, bringing an interesting mix of humor and deep knowledge, and the odd cat picture. They are a fixture at the Agile Alliance’s annual conference, Agile 20xx, as presenters in the Stalwarts track.

In 2018, Ron and Chet were presented with the World Agility Forum’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Agile Études, PMI SWO November Webinar

Each month in 2020 The Southwest Ohio Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI SWO) is hosting a free webinar. This is ‘solidarity series’ for agilest project managers facing the new normal. Each month, a common agile topic will be addressed, and we will delve deeply into possible practices aligned to the mostly universally acknowledged agile principles and values. The sessions are entirely free to the first 500 registrants. Each session is eligible for one self-reported professional development unit (PDU) towards the PMP or PMI-ACP certification in the Technical category.
