Chapter Bylaws - 2022

Summary

Project Management Institute Southwest Ohio Chapter (\"Chapter\") is proposing to update its Chapter Bylaws (\"Bylaws\") to revise the term of Chapter President from 4 years to 3 years. Specifically, it is proposing to make the 3-year president term to be, first year as President Elect, second year as President, and third year as Past President. Further, Chapter is proposing to allow all voting member of the Board of Directors, not just President, to appoint all committee members and a chairperson for Chapter committee(s). It further proposes to clarify that a chairperson for each committee shall be a voting member of the Board of Directors.

Summit 2021: Change Can Be Scary

Change takes many shapes and sizes for organizations and individuals. It is ever-present, unending, and unsurprisingly may create hesitancy and even fear in so many people. Summit 2021 is an exciting collaboration between the PMI Southwest Ohio Chapter and the PMI Dayton/Miami Valley Ohio Chapter to help professionals lead change. Volunteer Opportunity - Judges Needed for Xavier Project Management Class Projects
Help Needed: 

Opportunity to judge Xavier project management class projects

Class Date: 

May 6th 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Logistics to follow for Zoom or Teams meeting - to be set up, and it is 100% virtual. 

Additional Time needed to be scheduled in advance to do the following: 

Time (2 hours) set aside to put together the judging criteria two weeks prior to the class – during the week of April 15. TBD. This will be shared with the professor and the students in advance. (2 hours)

Time to prep and review project artifacts in advance of the class (2 hours) – probably two days in advance – May 3 – 5. Read and critique in advance and have notes that can be shared in advance.
The time online with the students presenting during the class time (2 hours).

Time needed right after class to wrap up the judging results in order to get them to the professor by asap - 10:30 – 12:30 May 6 (2 hours)

Welcome NEW PMI Southwest Ohio Chapter
Board of Directors
President Elect – Dan Eslinger, PMP

Dan Eslinger is a Global IT Program Manager responsible for implementing IT Innovation and Digital Transformation. He has filled several leadership positions in the PMI Chapter, including VP of Marketing, during which he attended LIM. Dan has a strong financial background and filled several leadership positions in other non-profit functions. He is interested in continuing to support the PMI SWO Chapter where he can be of the greatest service to the membership. Our PM Profession is going through much change, and he is a proponent of bringing people along and getting broad adoption of new ways to be successful.

In addition to has past role as VP of Marketing for PMI SWOC, Dan has filled several leadership positions in the Faith-Based Organization Leadership Board, Volunteer Building Project Leader, and Scouts BSA District Team Member. He is an active member of PM Executive Forum.
VP of Digital Transformation & Technology (DDT) - Ron DeJonckheere, PMP

Ron DeJonckheere has been delivering technology solutions to fortune 100 companies since 1996. He enjoys reading the manual, experimenting, and learning new/better ways to accomplish things. In addition, Ron’s been delivering new technology in the telecommunications space since 1996. He has been on a digital journey for years. Enabling organizations and teams with the latest tools/technology excites him and he enjoys solving technical challenges.

As VP of DTT, Ron will work closely with the Chapter to map the strategy. He will help leverage technology to transformation how the Chapter interacts with feedback and data, making it as easy as possible to get engagement with our community and providing technology workshops for members to gain knowledge. As VP, his aim is to continue the SSO and leveraging integration points to provide a congruent experience between systems and managing the vendor contracts and tools maintenance, and enablement for cross-functional tools & processes.
VP of Finance – Teresa Knittle, PMP

Teresa Knittle has been doing Project Management for over five years and obtained her PMP certification last year. She has over 17 years' experience in the financial industry. Her interest in becoming more involved in the chapter paired with her desire to move PMI SWOC forward with any capacity available and simply just wanting to be involved!
VP Professional Development – Kathleen Bland, PMP

Orison Swett Marden said, "Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great." Kathleen Bland sees the value that PMI Global and the Southwest Ohio Chapter bring to project managers and thought leaders in our area. Both are seizing occasions and elevating them to be great.

Kathleen Bland is currently a Project Manager with Highlight Technologies (https://highlighttech.com/) with 9 years of experience in her current role. In 2015, she earned her PMP certification, in 2017 she joined the chapter, and since 2018, she has been volunteering with the Professional Development team to organize monthly meetings and Summits. In addition, she has also worked with an afterschool program (https://www.avenuesforsuccess.net/) to provide data analysis and program management services since 2015.

Within the PMI Southwest Ohio Chapter, she is the current Director of Summit 2020 (falls under the Vice President of Professional Development). Outside of the PMI chapter, Kathleen has served as President (1x) and Vice President of Public Relations (2x) in the Environmentally Speaking Toastmasters club.

Our world is changing. The chapter must adapt to seize new opportunities as they arise. As the Vice President of Professional Development, she promises to set her sights on the horizon and guide us into the future project economy. There will be more pivoting and adapting to the ever-changing future of the project economy and she says she is ready to take on that challenge! As Captain Jack Sparrow said, “Now...bring me that horizon.” Will you let her lead you on this upcoming adventure?

PMI SWO Chapter Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - Virtual Only 2021

The Chapter is concerned and aware of the risks of the Coronavirus Pandemic, locally & around the globe. The following updates have been made to this notice:

  • 11 Aug 2021 - All PMI Southwest Ohio activities and events will be held virtually through remainder of 2021, and will launch an "In-person Events Committee" to provide guidance & policies in late Q4-2021 for returning in-person for early Q1-2022. Please sign up here to join the In-Person Events Committee! It has and still is a difficult & complex situation to navigate, and this was not taken lightly; it was decided by PMI SWO Board vote from information gathered in PMI public member forums, PMI public member survey, 25 July 2021 Guidance for PMI GHQ, local guidance across the Tri-state, local & regional employer guidance, and overall governing & advising bodies globally. 
  • 20 April 2021 - All PMI Southwest Ohio activities and events will only be held virtually through October 2021, where we will revisit the risks in August 2021 for impact & options for the rest of Q4 2021.
  • 01 June 2020 - All PMI Southwest Ohio activities and events will only be held virtually through Q1-2021, where we will revisit the risks & environment in April. 
  • 18 April 2020 - All PMI Southwest Ohio activities and events will only be held virtually as the chapter is concerned and aware of the risks of the coronavirus. As a result, we have canceled all face-to-face events until June.

Because the situation continues to rapidly evolve, we may make further adjustments to our scheduled events and we will continue to communicate those changes as soon as possible on our website.

In the meantime we recommend you follow these guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO),

  • Get vaccinated if you are able to
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others
  • Practice Social Distancing
    • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people
    • Do not gather in large groups
    • Stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings
    • Smile and/or use the Namaste greeting while Social Distancing
  • Self-quarantine for 14 days if you:
    • are experiencing symptoms - fever, cough, or shortness of breath
    • have been exposed to the virus through another event, or individual(s) known to have been exposed.
  • Wash hands for at LEAST 20 SECONDS or use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol after:
    • you have been in a public place
    • blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid close physical contact with others.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
    • Put distance between yourself and other people.
